La Roque sur Ceze

La Roque sur Cèze

It is generally accepted that France is a beautiful country. Not everyone knows that out of the thousands of lovely little villages, only a small number has been selected which carry the 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' designation. These villages meet the criteria that have been established by the 'Association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'.

As of today 150 villages in 21 regions and 66 départements comply with the conditions required to belong to this unusual selection. One of the conditions is that the number of inhabitants may not exceed 2000 and that there must be at least 2 protected monuments.

Since 2008, La Roque sur Cèze can also call itself ‘one of France’s most beautiful villages’. La Roque sur Cèze is a unique traffic-free village with beautifully restored houses, narrow alleyways and steps. The castle with its XI century chapel towers high above the village.

La Roque sur Cèze is also richly endowed with natural beauty; sycamores, extensive vineyards and the River Cèze mingle with each other. In other words, a sight not to be missed!
